SS01: Advancement of Health Monitoring by Remote Physiological Measurements

Chair: Prof F Meriaudeau, Dr. Mohamed Abul Hassan – Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS

Remote health monitoring has continued to be a major research area for the past decade. The aim of remote health monitoring has always been to develop the ability to perform remote estimation of physiological parameters to improve the living standards of human beings. The application of remote health monitoring has spread across from hospitals, caretaking centers, rehabilitation centers to ergonomic environments and the household. Vital signs such as; heart rate, respiratory rate, oxygen saturation, blood pressure and body temperature have been the main target measurements. Researchers have worked with various forms of biomedical signals such as Photoplethysmography (PPG/rPPG), ballistocardiography (BCG), optical vibrocardiography (OVC), localized electroencephalography (EEG) and Electromyography (EMG). During this special session, researchers are gathered to contribute towards the advancement of remote health monitoring focused mainly on biomedical signal processing, engineering and its applications.

Prospective authors are invited to submit original and unpublished work on the following research topics related to this Special Session:

  • Biomedical signal denoising
  • Biomedical signal retrieval
  • Motion artifact removal methods
  • Pattern recognition for biomedical diagnosis
  • Elastography processing
  • EGG processing
  • EMG processing
  • PPG processing
  • Blood glucose estimation
  • Blood oxygen estimation
  • Facial video based vital estimation
  • New public benchmarks and datasets for remote physiological measurement for health monitoring.
