MANQ1013 Human Information Processing
This course is about the information explosion and information processing by humans. It covers history of mankind in relation to information development and subsequently the psychology of the individual as a member of the global village. Social culture of local, regional and international settings is discussed in terms of some popular and commonly used theories, models, real cases and nature of social information processing. At the end of this course, students are able to postulate and anticipate the potential effects and impacts of certain information systems or applications on individuals, communities of practice and societies.
MANQ1023 Information Engineering
The course focuses on the advanced principles of data modeling of information in a business enterprise using appropriate modelling techniques. The topics include four main components which are (1) Advanced Information System and Information Engineering; (2) Enterprise and Technology Architecture and Organizational Business Strategy; (3) Software Design and Information Retrieval and (4) Managing Big Data.
MANQ1033 Entrepreneurial Learning Organization and Culture
The course will explore issues facing corporations as they attempt to create a sustainable competitive advantage through entrepreneurial activities.The primary focus is on the application of information technologies to transform organizations and improve performance, as well as innovations in business strategy by examining the design of organization’s structure and business processes. The course further developed an understanding of the concept and the strategic and organizational implications of E-Business, reflecting on changes in the business environment and developments in internet related technologies. The role of enterprise systems such as Customer Relationship Management (CRM), Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and Supply Chain Management (SCM) in E-Business will also be looked into.
MANQ1043 User Experience and Interaction Design
This course emphasizes on the notion of “interaction with digital technology” with a focus on the design concepts of modern user experience design and evaluation. It provides students in-depth knowledge about interaction design principles including concepts, process, interface metaphors, types, theories and models. Knowledge of interaction conceptualization, cognitive aspects, social interaction, emotional interaction, type of interfaces and design process are also covered. The interaction design process includes data gathering, analysis, prototyping and evaluation of various information systems including online systems, mobile devices and latest gadgets based on different user needs and technological contexts.
MANQ1053 Enterprise Architecture
This course provides students in-depth knowledge on existing policies, standards, and procedures that support the management of information for effective enterprise change. Technology and content to be covered involves concept of information which is used and applied to activities that require explicit details of information technologies (IT). This includes IT service delivery and support and IT implementation. In addition, this course focuses on the three enterprise architecture methodologies ie. Zachman Framework, TOGAF and Federal Enterprise Architecture (FEA). At the end of this course students are able to articulate critically the various EA in aligning business strategies with technology capabilities while translating IT contribution to organization revenue.
MANQ1063 Service Innovation Technology
This course focuses on the aspect of identifying and delivering value and business capabilities to an organization by orchestrating the right infrastructure architecture from the perspective of (internal) clients of the IT Department. Students are required to study, compare and propose practicable solutions based on infrastructure and technologies necessary to achieve service innovation for organizational transformations. Best practices used in a wide range of industrial sectors will be examined in-depth using case studies. Topics include internet-of-things, SSME, cloud computing, virtualization, green computing, mobile technologies, information risks, business value and capability.
UANP0013 Research Methodology
This course discusses the principles of research methodology which include a general introduction to postgraduate research, its methodologies and organization. It is designed to support postgraduate students in developing their research proposal and to guide students through a range of issues and considerations which should inform their general approach to research. Students will learn a range of research tools, and will be equipped to plan and organize their research, as well as to communicate their findings.
