Biography
Robiah Ahmad graduated with a B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering in 1988 from the University of Evansville, Indiana, U.S.A. She then obtained her M.Sc. in Information Technology for Manufacture from Warwick Manufacturing Group, University of Warwick, the UK in 1993. She completed her Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the University Teknologi Malaysia, Malaysia in 2004 in system identification and evolutionary algorithm.
She started her career as an assistant lecturer at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) in December 1988 until December 1990. She was then transferred to the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering UTM Skudai, Johor Bahru, and later appointed as Associate Professor in 2004 until December 2010. In She is currently an Associate Professor in the UTM Razak School of Engineering, UTM Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Her teachings are centered on the fundamental of electrical and mechanical engineering such as instrumentation, control engineering, mechatronics and circuits and system, and finally engineering design optimization for post-graduate students.
She has more than 30 years of experience as a research scientist and published more than 110 peered reviewed international journal papers/proceedings in areas of instrumentation and control, system modeling and identification, and evolutionary computation. Projects that she was and is currently involved in are translational researches such as investigation of heat thermal performance of optimized integrated piezoelectric and magnetic fans for microelectronics cooling systems, wireless healthcare monitoring systems, horticulture crop growth response, and flowering production in a controlled environment for the vertical farming method under artificial periodic sun lighting system, renewable energy for remote area application. Currently, she holds a position as Past Chair for IEEE Instrumentation and Measurement Society Malaysia Chapter
