29 June 2026 – Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), in collaboration with the IEEE Malaysia Communications Society and Vehicular Technology Society Joint Chapter, hosted a Distinguished Lecture by Professor Swades De of IIT Delhi on AI- and machine learning-enabled sustainable Internet of Things (IoT) systems.

24 June 2026 – The AI Showcase @ FAI Competition 2026, organised by Universiti Teknologi Malaysia’s Faculty of Artificial Intelligence, highlighted practical AI innovations developed by students, researchers and staff. The Ubiquitous Broadband Access Network Research Group achieved notable success through award-winning projects such as AGROMADANI, an autonomous rover for crop health monitoring and disease detection; AutoBMS, an AI-powered building energy management system designed to reduce electricity consumption and carbon emissions; and AI-Broiler, a non-invasive deep-learning solution for monitoring poultry weight and health.

Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), through the Faculty of Artificial Intelligence (FAI), successfully organised a two-day Training of Trainers (TTT) Infineon PSoC™ Edge E84 AI Kit programme on 4 and 6 May 2026 at UTM Kuala Lumpur, involving 15 academics from UTM Kuala Lumpur.

On 17 April 2026, the networking visit by Hangguan Shan from Zhejiang University provided an opportunity for knowledge exchange and future research collaboration with the U-BAN Research Group, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia. Discussions focused on potential joint activities, including academic colloquiums, research sharing sessions, and future collaborations in intelligent systems, wireless communication, and AI-driven technology

On 6 April 2026, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) and KMK Agro Global Sdn. Bhd. formalised a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) to strengthen collaboration in smart agriculture and IoT-driven technologies. The partnership focuses on research, innovation, and technology transfer initiatives, particularly in smart farming solutions, automated monitoring systems, and AI-based agricultural applications to support sustainable and modern farming practices in Malaysia.
