29 June 2026 – Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), in collaboration with the IEEE Malaysia Communications Society and Vehicular Technology Society Joint Chapter, hosted a Distinguished Lecture by Professor Swades De of IIT Delhi on AI- and machine learning-enabled sustainable Internet of Things (IoT) systems. The lecture explored how lightweight AI, edge intelligence and data-driven optimisation can improve communication efficiency, reduce energy consumption and support intelligent decision-making in smart cities, smart grids and other digital environments. Beyond advancing technical knowledge, the event strengthened international academic collaboration by encouraging joint research, publications, grants, student exchanges and technology development, while supporting UTM’s commitment to sustainable innovation and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
